Here are the terminology that we used in our MTO Services that you may need to know:
- Shoe Last: A last is a mechanical form shaped like a human foot. This will determine the shape of the boots you choose.
- Toe Style: The style of the front of the boots.
- Kiltie: Also known as ‘false tounge’, an additional piece of leather that covers the bottom of the tongue.
- Medallion: An ornamental detail at the toe created by punching or perforating the leather.
- Toe Box: A structured toe has a material, frequently celastic, that supports the toe often beneath the upper layer and the lining layer.
- Side Patch: An additional leather to enhance the durability in the biggest friction point.
- Upper Leather: The leather that forms the upper of a boots.
- Lining: A layer of different material covering the inside surface of the boots.
- Eyelets: A small round hole in leather for threading a lace.
- Hardware Material: Material used in eyelets.
- Construction: The way in which the sole is attached to the upper of the boots.
- Welt: A leather rim sewn around the edge of an upper to which the sole is attached.
- Outsole: Also known as the sole, is the bottommost part of a boots that comes in direct contact with the ground.
- Edge Shades: Accents that given to the welt and midsole.
- Personal Engraving: Personal identity that engraved on the insole.
